FAQs about Hypnosis Downloads for children and teens

Slightly sulky teenage girl
Do therapy MP3s work?

Yes they do. Thousands of children throughout the English speaking world have benefited from listening to the MP3s and found them enjoyable as well as really helpful

How do they work?

Lynda’s friendly, calming English voice encourages children to relax comfortably and engage their imagination. In this day dreamy state they are particularly receptive to positive suggestions and the only suggestions on the MP3s are positive.

The ideas and language are carefully crafted to appeal to the individual age group. For example, older children may be asked to imagine their mind as a computer and delete all negative messages about lack of self esteem and type in self affirming messages instead. Young children may be taken into an imaginary garden to touch brave and confidence flowers which help them to feel brave and confident  in everyday life. Children say they love listening to them

The suggestions are very carefully composed to increase self esteem, calm and confidence and ability to cope well in any given situation

Should I choose a MP3 for my child or should I choose an individual session?

Clearly, if a child attends for a session in person they will have the additional benefits of individual, personalised attention but obviously, it is not possible for everybody to come to London for a personal session. The MP3s have all been based on Lynda’s experience with individual children so everything on the MP3s is tried and tested. One of the great benefits of the MP3 is that children can hear them over and over again and the effects are cumulative. The more often they listen the greater the effect

Lynda’s expertise as a therapist of more than twelve years enables her to script each MP3 very, very carefully using words which, although general, resonate with the individual child to create an intensely personal experience

If you find that the MP3 has helped considerably but not quite enough, you might like to consider either a personal visit or a tailor made MP3. See more information here

Is it dangerous? Are there side effects?

In the hands of an expert, hypnotherapy MP3s are completely natural and safe and any side effects are those of increased calm and confidence. Never put them on in the car for your child while you are driving because they are so relaxing they will take your attention away from driving

When should the MP3s be used?

It is probably best to use the MP3s at bedtime when children are already beginning to wind down, relax and enjoy listening away from distractions. At the end they can just drop off to sleep.

What happens if they go to sleep while listening?

In the light day- dreaming state where conscious thoughts wander the subconscious is more ready to receive the positive suggestions on the MP3. If children drift immediately into a deep sleep, it is questionable whether the message will come through so try to time their listening so they will be awake, even though pleasantly drowsy, the whole time. However, if they are listening to overcome sleeping problems clearly it will be positive if they drift off to sleep while listening!

Try using the MP3s during the daytime or early evening if they constantly fall asleep while listening at bedtime

Can different MP3s be used on the same day or same week?

It is usually best to listen to one MP3 for a few days (or occasionally even two or three weeks) and then try the other one. It really depends on why they are being used; MP3s with a confidence theme may be very positive if used together, whereas you may not want to mix ‘Calm and relaxed at the dentist’ with ‘Revise and Remember’ since there is a slight risk of diluting the effect of both

How long should they continue to listen to the MP3s?

Listen regularly for a minimum of four days a week (preferably daily) until they find they are getting the results they want, feeling and behaving more calmly and confidently for example. Listening to the Stop Bedwetting MP3s is best done nightly until the dry bed habit is established. Even then it is good to boost the effect by listening every so often, perhaps once a week

Are you going to produce any new titles soon?

We are currently working on IBS, Preparation for your child’s operation, Manage your ADHD, and one to help children be more adventurous with their eating. These should be ready soon

Do you produce tailor made MP3s?

If there is not a title which deals with your specific issue and if you cannot come for a one-to-one session, we can record a MP3 especially for you. We would need to consult extensively with you by phone or email before carefully scripting the MP3 and recording it. It will be like having a one-to-one session and the price will reflect this.
